In Honor of My Granddaddy (Happy Father's Day

Excerpt from "Reflections of Life" 60 Days of Inspiration

Day 8 A FATHER’S (GRANDPA) LOVE

Today’s Truth: I'm thankful for my bio-dad that planted me in my mother's womb, my grandpa (RIP) that watered me with the hands-on experience of what a dad is to be and my Eternal Father that continues to mold me into the daughter He’s called me to be.

Colossians 3:15 (KJV) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Not reared up by my biological father, as a child I never suffered from father abandonment issues, Thank God! I’ve been blessed with many father figures in my life, my granddaddy and several uncles. As I began to have children of my own and saw how my husband interacted with our children, it made me appreciate them the more. Especially my granddaddy, that we so fondly called Daddy. He was a daddy to so many throughout the neighborhood and our family. He taught us all about discipline and household chores. Did I say discipline? Lol. Daddy didn’t play when chores were not completed. Although I never received a spanking from him. I was the first and best granddaughter ever. I was his favorite. Don’t tell my cousins. I recall when he’d take us fishing and camping during the summer. Our job was to dig for the fish bait (worms), boy was I afraid of those things. So, we’d unearth the worms and call for Madea (Grandma Clara) to put them in the large dirt filled coffee can. Anyhow, I’m thankful for the father the Lord sent me in my granddaddy. I’m now thankful for an eternal loving Father, who through His word, continues to rebuke, reprove, exhort, rebuild, restore and renew me.
